Wendy Newnham

Management expertise combined with first-hand knowledge of community nursing.

Wendy is the Nurse Director at Procare, with responsibility for the Adult Community Nursing Service in Guildford and Waverley.

Wendy qualified as a Registered Nurse in London in 1996 and worked at St Thomas' hospital before a year travelling and working as a nurse in Australia.  Wendy undertook her District Nurse Specialist Practice Qualification BSc (Hons) working in Kingston and The Kings Road in London as a District Nurse.

Wendy started working in Guildford in 2003 as a nurse visitor to older people, intermediate care sister and practice nurse moving into her first management role as a Modern Matron in when she developed the first Community Matron (called Key Care) role in Surrey.  Subsequently Wendy has had roles managing adult community nursing across Surrey and Deputy Chief Nurse, achieving a distinction for her research on mobile working in adult community nursing as part of her MSc in Health and Social Care.  Before joining Procare in 2019, Wendy spent time in a local CCG as Head of Urgent and Integrated Care

Wendy is currently a member of the national RCN District and Community Nursing Forum Steering Committee and lives near Guildford with her 2 teenage children and Cavachon dog. In her spare time, Wendy enjoys running, Pilates and up until recently was a Zumba instructor.
